One thing you can be pretty sure of is that when anyone says they are on a mission from God, they are actually on a mission of their own desires, very often, but not always, a mission of their own fears and hatreds.
A group of conservative attorneys say they are on a mission from God to unseat four California judges in a rare challenge that is turning a traditionally snooze-button election into what both sides call a battle for the integrity of U.S. courts.

This is very dangerous stuff.
Do I always agree with court rulings? No, but I usually do. Would I rather our judges listen to the dogma of some religion rather than or even in conjunction with their best understanding of the law? Never!
I am a Californian who is fed up with the ongoing failures of much of California government. But I blame most of it on those California voters who have worked tirelessly for decades to make California ungovernable, passing one ill-advised initiative after another. And they will likely add to the mess in the upcoming election. Our problems are not our judges. Our problems are us. If voters elect this bunch of folks on a mission from their god, it will only add to the already nearly overwhelming evidence for this.
I once thought some god was calling me to do something. Now I’m quite sure it was only my own voice and perhaps the voices of a few other people.
