Update on the NAGRA Amendment and the Law that Should Not Be

I just received an email from Moira Breen of Progressive Reaction that contained the following:

. . . I'm trying to send out alerts to bloggers who've posted in the past on McCain's NAGPRA amendment/Kennewick Man, etc. . . I've received word that a hearing on the NAGPRA amendment has been scheduled. Unfortunately, it has not been publicly announced, the invitation for testimony is woefully weighted in favor of the amendment's proponents, and, though apparently a McCain staffer had indicated that it would be scheduled for fall, the hearing has instead been scheduled for 14 June (allowing no time for opposition advocates to arrange trips to Washington).

If you're interested and would like to help get the word out, more info can be found on my blog or at the Friends of America's Past website . . .

Please pass along this info to any other bloggers that you know of who might also be interested in the issue.

Moira Breen

Go thou and do what is right in this matter.
