Where is the Content?
A good article on the difference between biological science and Intelligent Design creationism by Philosopher Daniel C. Dennett is in today's New York Times.
The punch line:
Intelligent design itself does not have any content.
And Dennett takes that from George Gilder, Senior Fellow - Technology and Democracy at the Discovery Institute. The quotation comes from a Boston Globe article that quotes Gilder at some length. This Boston Globe article is itself based on an attempt to make a distinction without a difference but that is another subject.
PZ Myers mentions and quotes from Dennett's piece in his putdown of the lawsuit against the University of California's attempts to impose standards on biology prerequisites for admission as a transfer from colleges whose biology program does not include a solid grounding in contemporary science.
