PZ Myers on EvolveTV

Relaxed, clear, informative, straightforward, matter of fact, PZ Myers teaches us about the modern synthesis in biology and debunks Intelligent Designs creationism all in 44 minutes and six easy lessons. While the tone is conversational, Duncan Black does ask Myers some hard questions both about evolution and about the opinions of Intelligent Design creationists. They are the questions that a non-biologist who had been reading the current popular news would have. Myers addresses all of them in sufficient detail to leave little doubt that he has great command of the science and the politics of the debate. If you want to learn from an expert teacher, login to EvolveTV.

A few of the mechanics need some work. The editing between segments appeared very abrupt and distracting. There needs to be some transitional material. The backdrop was atrocious. While the below frame captions where a nice touch, some in-frame graphics would be helpful. A few times I thought Myers could have benefited from a whiteboard or an illustration or two. This was particularly true when he was discussing scaffolding in his otherwise great explanation of why Behe's "irreducible complexity" is not irreducible.

If you would like to hear Juan Cole on the Middle East, login to his sequence. Its also great.
