A Little Confession
Last week we had a school board election in Pomona. It was part of the special election in which we told Governor Schwarzenegger to stop playing games and get to work. We were supposed to vote for three from a slate of six. I voted for three school board members. One had been on the board too a long time. The other two I didn't know much about but there was nothing in their background to scare me. However, I wasn't really sure that I wanted to reelect the long time member. I thought he had become ineffective over his many years on the board. But as I looked at the other choices, none of whom did I know much about, I began to worry that one or all of them were stealth creationists. There wasn't occasion for me to interview them personally and I'm not sure what I would have learned if I had. So I voted for the known entity on the basis that the devil you know is better than the devil you don't know.
