Write Truth and Justice with Capital Letters
lie and oppression with small.
Tim Rutten, writing in the Los Angeles Times this morning, reminds us of the poem, "Incantation" by Nobel laureate Czeslaw Milosz. Milosz' poem begins,
Human reason is beautiful and invincible.
No bars, no barbed wire, no pulping of books,
No sentence of banishment can prevail against it.
It establishes the universal ideas in language,
And guides our hand so we write Truth and Justice
With capital letters, lie and oppression with small.
You can read the whole poem at Three-Toed Sloth .
As Rutten points out, it is the writing of Truth and Justice with capital letters and lying and practicing oppression with small that is the central theme of Vice President Cheney and for that matter, the whole of the Bush Administration.
