Cheney Out of the Loop?

Mike the Mad Biologist has posted significant portions (all?) of an article in today's Insight Magazine. A subscription is required to read the full article on Insight's website. The article is called, "Bush takes Cheney out of the loop on national security."

Here is a sample from Mad Mike's post,

The sources said Mr. Bush has privately blamed Mr. Cheney and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for the U.S.-led war in Iraq. They said the president has told his senior aides that the vice president and defense secretary provided misleading assessments on Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, as well as the capabilities of the regime of Saddam Hussein.

Wow, if true, how did the President figure this out without help? Perhaps Condoleezza Rice clued him in. Read the material Mad reproduces. It's really interesting and if true, extremely important.

On the other hand, Insight has another article (subscription required) that begins,

Defenders of Vice President Dick Cheney insist that the main driving force behind the decision for the U.S.-led war in Iraq was President Bush.

So there you go.
