Biblical Studies Carnival II
Biblical Studies Carnival II is now up at Codex Blogspot. By my count, there are 30 posts. They represent a very large range of topics from Archaeology to the Hebrew Bible to the Greek New Testament and Early Christianity to cognate literature (one of my posts is in this section) and more. I've read several of these entries and those are of quite high academic quality but for the most part written for a general reader. I plan to read them all. If you are trying to make sense of the state of current academic biblical studies, you might want to start with Tyler Williams' post on "Beyond Minimalism & Maximalism: Some Modest Observations on the Historiography Debate." He modestly buries the link in the section on Old Testament/Hebrew Bible without so much as giving himself the slightest credit. While it is unfair to single out a single post, I know that I have some readers who are interested in biology and anthropology and I think you will particularly like Chris Heard's, "Why I am not a Creationist."
Even if the Bible is not your thing, take a look at this Carnival. You'll learn something.
Tyler Williams has done a great job pulling all this together. Thanks!
