What Would Sartre Have Thought?
A few days ago, Shirley and I went to see Jean-Paul Sartre's No Exit. The play was a senior project for several of the participants including the senior student director Michael Cruz of Pomona College. The production was very nice and well acted by
Kendra Amick a sophomore at Scripps College as the Bellhop or Valet,
Aidan Gould a sophomore at Pomona College as Garcin,
Dorothy Drury a senior at Pitzer College as Inez,
Jocelyn Matsuo a senior at Pitzer College as Estelle.
The English version of the play was a fresh translation by Pomona College senior Alexandra Cohen-Spiegler.
Having the Bellhop wander around the audience asking about the props before the formal start was a nice touch. The Allen Studio Theatre in the Seaver Theatre Complex on Pomona College's campus is very intimate. No one is more than a few feet from the action. For $2.00 apiece, these productions are a great bargain.
But there was one thing that bothered me: the credits. Read them to the end to see what I mean.

For those that don't know, the Claremont Colleges are made up of seven private schools: Scripps, Pomona, Pitzer, Claremont McKenna, Harvey Mudd, the Claremont Graduate University and the Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences.
