This Was Inevitable

There is a message board called Rapture Ready. The message board appears to attract the suicidal and homicidal who want god to do it for them. And sure enough, many who contribute to that message board see the current events in the Near East as in furtherance of their goal. It looks like PZ Myers and I share the same favorite post.

I too am soooo excited!! I get goose bumps, literally, when I watch what's going on in the M.E.!! And Watcherboy, you were so right when saying it was quite a day yesterday, in the world news, and I add in local news here in the Boston area!! Tunnel ceiling collapsed on a car and killed a woman of faith, and we had the most terrifying storms I have ever seen here!! But, yes, Ohappyday, like in your screen name, it is most indeed a time to be happy and excited, right there with ya!!

Not only does the author of this little masterpiece see the Lord's eschatological hand in the events in the Near East, he or she sees it in the collapse of part of the Big Dig in Boston and the weather. Amazing! By the way, it is hotter than hell here but I don't think it is a sign of the last days.

One of the more disturbing things about many of the posts is the amount of outright cheerleading that goes on. Don't believe me? Get a load of this.

Cheers Cheers Cheers Lets all cheer for Jesus.

Mind boggling. I think I'll use this little gal at the end of some of my posts on things Ugaritic.

Update: The link to the thread cited above no longer works. Rapture Ready is a very big site and they seem to move things around and merge threads on a fairly regular basis. I suppose those who use it regularly know how to find their way around but I don't. If you want to get a flavor for the site, please go to their gateway page and if you find the stuff I quoted please let me know the new URL.

Duane, I have to dispute your comments about the heat. Having just driven back to Thousand Oaks from Abilene, TX over the past two days, I can testify that Arizona is a lot hotter than SoCal right now.

As for the rest ... Yikes.

Those folk are sick human beings. Really, really mentally ill. And I'm not speaking metaphorically.

I've never seen that particular discussion board before. Reminds me of things people used to say back in my old dispensationalist days (something I've tried to forget). Back to therapy I guess.

Not only is there a lot of cheerleading (and interpretations of the Bible yanked out of context), but I noticed several posts in which people were expressing intense fear and anxiety about being "left behind." Not a healthy way to live....
