Will They Ever Give Up?
The self-styled "Biblical Scholars" who have failed two or three times at predicting a nuclear attack on the UN building in New York have confessed to their mistake. Well, more accurately, they believe that they made an error but now have it right.
We made another mistake. The monthly Sabbath of 2006 Tammuz is not 30 individual daily Sabbaths, but is one month long Sabbath. Our new predicted date for a Nuclear Attack on the UN in New York City launched from the Sea or a great River is Sundown Tuesday July 25th - Sundown Thursday July 27th.We can only apologise once more. We have removed the bug and recalculated yet again. . . .
Well, which is it, after sundown on July 25th, any time on July 26th or until sundown July 27th? I can't afford to spend three days time in New York City this summer just to get a blog scoop on this story.
You'll remember that they had previously predicted this for the extended Fourth of July weekend after their prediction (with 85% confidence) that it would happen between June 9 or 10 failed. If it doesn't happen between the evening of the 25th and evening of the 27th of July, I predict that they will recalculate and come up with something in the August 16-20 timeframe. After all, there were about 24 days between each of the previous failed predictions. And I didn't need to check out my Hebrew Bible to figure this out. Don't these guys know that all good predictions are for many years, sometimes generations, in the future so when something really does happen they can get credit for it no matter how unlikely it is that they accurately predicted that specific event or any other.
Another thing that seems abnormally strange to me is that they can be so certain about the place and type of attack but happily admit that they keep getting the date wrong. If it weren't for the high comedy, there is absolutely no reason to pay any attention to this small group of delusional would be prophets. Aside from always getting their numbers wrong, they are also few in number. Long may it be so. This wouldn't be so funny if they made up a significant portion of the population, like readers of the Left Behind books.
On the other hand, perhaps they may just be trying to get a job at the Discovery Institute. They seem to be well qualified for research fellowships there.
