Having Trouble Selling Your House? Try Magic!
There is war in Iraq and Afghanistan, an unstable cease fire in Lebanon, problems with Iran and Korea, there is a major labor issue with some City of Los Angeles workers, heck, there's even JonBenet but here is a partial transcript of what KCBS-TV in Los Angeles used to waste precious air time during their 5:30 segment this evening.
Some religious realtors say a saint up in heaven is helping them sell houses. Catholic bookstores around Long Island are selling out of statues of St. Joseph. The statues come in home seller kits. . . Realtors say that burying the statue in the yard helps sell the house.
Yeap, religious magic may or may not sell homes but it surely must help ratings. Why else would a "news" editor air such nonsense? Does anyone wonder why the understanding of science or anything else is so abysmal in the US when you hear this masquerading as news?
If you have the stomach for it, you can see part of this piece at CBS2-Video. I had to use their search engine using the key word "Joseph." It's hard to tell how long they will keep the video up. The actual piece was over twice as long as the website video and featured an interview with a local realtor who was kind enough to tell us that the statue is most effective if buried upside down facing the street! Oh yeah, in case you haven't figured it out yet, Saint Joseph is the patron saint of real estate. Who would have thought?
