Wedging the Wedge
Over at Panda's Thumb PvM tells us about “Countering the Wedge: A multi-pronged, multi-year strategy to oppose creationism and intelligent design in the science curriculum of public schools” by Massimo Pigliucci, David Baum and Mark McPeek. All three authors are working biologists, not a lawyer in the group. Give it a read.
In my view, the hardest and most important part is this goal
To positively engage the public, the media, religious leaders, and elected representatives to promote a better understanding of evolutionary biology in particular and science as a method of inquiry in general.I worry that the order is wrong. Before we can hope that evolutionary biology can be understood and accepted, it is imperative that "science as a method of inquiry" be understood and we are a very long way from that.
