Liberty College Student Prepares a Terrorist Attack

A Liberty College student planned to incinerate protesters with gasoline and detergent bombs at Jerry Falwell's funeral.

. . . Campbell County authorities arrested a Liberty University student for having several homemade bombs in his car.

The student, 19-year-old Mark D. Uhl of Amissville, Va., reportedly told authorities that he was making the bombs to stop protesters from disrupting the funeral service. [ABC News]

This student and his likely co-conspirators must have really learned their lessons at Moral Majority U. They attempted to put their Liberty College education to practical use. While I strongly object to protests at funerals and I particularly object to one of the groups that planned to protest this funeral, gasoline and detergent bombs are nothing short of instruments of terror. Sure, we are likely dealing with a few nuts, but one can reasonably expect that the population density of nuts at Liberty College is well above average.

All the concern about homegrown terrorists is well justified. We've seen it with Timothy McVeigh, at abortion clinics and we might have seen it today in Virginia. And yes, this would have been a terrorist attack even if no official or new media called it such.

Um, McVeigh was an agnostic.

Looney, you may be right about McVeigh. I don't know. He was none-the-less a homegrown terrorist.
