A Place of Their Own

The obscenely wealthy desire even more at the expense of those who only desire what they have - a place to hunt and gather and life the only life they know or want.

Christopher O'Brien at Northstate Science has a moving account of the efforts of the United Arab Emirates' royal family to secure a "personal safari playground" in Tanzania at the expense of the Hadza. Chris lived with these hunter-gatherers and his account is therefore deeply personal. The story will make you cry and make you mad.

On another note: Antiquity quoted Chris' post on how creationists misuse archaeology at length in their most recent issue. Martin Rundkvist has the story at Aardvarchaeology. Congratulations Chris!
