Cats, Cats, Wild Cats

One of the things Shirley and I did over the last two days was visit The Exotic Feline Breeding Compound just outside of Rosamond near Edwards Air Force Base. While the public exhibit is small, it is wonderful. Most of the cats were active or at least visible and you could get within three or four feet of them

Our favorite was the Caracal (Caracal caracal) that looks somewhat like a small version of a lynx. The one on display is Kalaj. You can see his picture here. We also enjoyed the Northern Chinese leopards (P. p. japonensis). They had several on display.

We plan to go back on June 16, in the evening, when they provide tours of the breeding area. If you are in Southern California, this is a great place to visit.

By the way, the reason I don't have any pictures is that I forgot to put a memory card in my camera before we left. Silly me! But you can take the links and see much better pictures than I could ever take.
