The Ever Popular Paragogic Nun and Scribal Training in Ancient Israel
Charles Halton at Awilum has a very interesting post about Kaufman's understanding of the paragogic nun in Biblical Hebrew and how such a thing might contribute to an argument for a standardized scribal curriculum in Ancient Israel. Like most of his posts, this one is well worth the read. He also gives us a little homework assignment. He asks, "Do you think a more or less standardized scribal curriculum existed in Ancient Israel?" I left part of my answer as a comment to Charles's post. One think that I may add it that answer is that it may depend on when one sees a possibilities of such a curriculum. I'm more than okay in seeing it quite early but not everyone will agree with me.
