Someone Else With Abnormal Interests
Something shocking happened the week before last. When I when to the library to get the Schaeffer article I quoted in the previous post, the bound, 1934, volume of Syria, with that article, was not on the shelf! First, all the articles in Syria I have ever seen are in French. It is a French journal. Second, the journal focuses on the archaeology of Syria and the archaeology of Syria as far as it involves French archaeological research in Syria at that. Third, I was looking for an article that was published over 70 years ago. These factors, when taken together, greatly reduce the population of people who might want access to the same volume. In addition, in numerous visits to look at various papers in this journal, I had never noticed that even a single volume was missing from the shelves unless I had taken it from the shelves earlier on the same visit. In other words, it's hard to believe that anyone would be using volume XV of Syria at the same time I wanted to use it. Well, it turns out that no one was using it at that exact time. I found it in the "reshelf" case. That means that someone else with abnormal interests had been there before me on that very day.

Hello,
Be careful about what you wish for. The interested person may be working for the CIA. I've known it to happen!

Maybe there was a short & normal person who needed to reach a more normal volume from a higher shelf & he/she happened to use that volume of Syria as a step stool.
