The Silver Screen Edition of Four Stone Hearth and Blogs I Did Not Know About
Four Stone Hearth #31 is up at Walking the Berkshires. One of the things I enjoy most about carnivals is that I get to learn about blogs that weren't previously on my radar. For example, with the publication of the 31st edition of the anthropology carnival Four Stone Hearth at Walking the Berkshires, I learned about the blog Walking the Berkshires. Tim Abbott, who runs the blog, is the Litchfield Hills Greenprint Program Director with the Trust for Public Land and Housatonic Valley Association in Connecticut. But he blogs his own views on a wide range of subjects. He calls his edition of Four Stone Hearth "Silver Screen Edition" and illustrates it with images from movies. Beautifully done!
And while looking at the various posts in this carnival I came across Archaeoporn. Thaddeus Nelson, a PhD student studying Anthropological Science, with a focus on archaeology of Iron Age Syria-Palestine, at Stony Brook University in Long Island, describes Archaeoporn in the following terms:
This blog is devoted to archaeology, religion, and pseudo-science. All too often archaeology and religion are misused, either through ignorance or purposeful deceit. Unfortunately, many archaeologists and scholars who are able to oppose such misuse do not, because of the overwhelming nature of those who choose the path of pseudo-archaeology. This is a dangerous situation, because while such work often only spreads misinformation, it has frequently been used to support unethical agendas.
Thaddeus has a series on the Talpiot Tomb that may interest regular readers of Abnormal Interests. It was this series that Tim recognized in this edition of Four Stone Hearth.
I have added both of these blogs to my RSS list and will add them to my blog role whenever I get around to updating it.
