Liu Fang Yuan
Today Shirley and I went to the Huntington Library to see the new Chinese Garden. There was a special viewing for members. I think it will open to the general public February 23rd. Don't get too excited. Members are people who buy the right to come as often as they like in a twelve mouth period. One gets some other stuff too, like special exhibit viewing and openings plus discounts at the bookstore and whatnot. Membership in the Huntington Library is one of the best bargains in Southern California for anyone 65 or over. If you are wondering about the title of this post, Liu Fang Yuan is the name of the garden. I'm told it means, "Garden of Flowing Fragrance." We had seen the garden at various stages during construction, but, now nearly complete, it is a wonderful experience.
Here are a couple of pictures,

The garden will be even more impressive when they complete the landscaping in one peripheral area and when more of the plum trees are in bloom. A year or so will also help many of the plants mature. But we don't plan to wait that long to return.
