The Old Camp Ground

This is west side of the 1973 Gezer excavation camp looking north.

Gezer Excavation camp in 1973

Well, I think it was 1973 but it might have been 1971. The camp layout didn't change much from year to year. The men's luxury suites are on the left. The structure to the right is the high-class banquet hall and lecture center. The women's luxury suites are not in this picture but they were just as well-appointed as the men's. I'll show that side of the camp, the dig house and the pottery shed as soon as I find a picture. In the background are the covered dual troughs we all used to wash our hands and brush our teeth. A corner of the showers is visible to the right and slightly behind those troughs. We enjoyed hot and cold running water, cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon and evening. Between the last luxury suite and the wash troughs is the path down to the toilet facilities. They were too fierce to photograph.
