Gezer 2008 Season News Release
The Israel Antiquities Authority has released news of the 2008 season of excavations at Gezer. Nothing really earth shattering, but interesting nonetheless. While most of the work involved exposing Iron Age II remains, one probe did "uncovered a massive pillar base nearly one-meter in diameter. Pottery from this probe dates the pillar base to the Late Bronze Age, around 1300 BC." Now that is interesting. Do they find Late Bronze Age tablets next season? That would be abnormally interesting!
