The Latest JNES Is Out

The October 2008 issue of the Journal of Near Eastern Studies is now out. Nothing exactly bowled me over, but you may find one or two of the papers and reviews abnormally interesting. The Table of Contents is online.

You'll also find a list of the most cited and the most often accessed papers in right column of the Table of Contends page. Some of those are interesting indeed. Published in 1965, Astour's "The Origin of the Terms 'Canaan,' 'Phoenician,' and 'Purple'" is the most often cited paper. Ackerman's 2008 paper, "Asherah, the West Semitic Goddess of Spinning and Weaving?," is the most often accessed.
