Ancient Near East Sites on Google Earth

J. P. van de Giessen of Aantekeningen bij de Bijbel directs us to the work of Olof Pedersén of Uppsala University. Pedersén has flagged some 1300 ancient near eastern locations on Google Earth.

Another wonderful timesink and a useful tool also. Check it out.

Thanks for the link. I just sent him 10 sets of coordinates for places I have visited in western Turkey. I'll probably post them on my blog tomorrow.

RE: Timesink. Yes it is; but for someone like my 11 year old son, it's time well spent. He's learning geography while playing with Google Earth (he mostly is just looking for the locations of various theme parks with awesome roller coasters, getting the view as close to the park as possible, and then longing staring at the screen wishing he were there).
