More Work and I Keep Thinking I'm Retired
I just got word about a paper on משׁתין בקיר that I submitted for publication back in June of last year. I'd all but given up on it. I worried that it was a little too long and that it lacked salience. Much to my delight, the paper has been approved for publication subject my addressing to a relatively few quite legitimate concerns. In fact, one reviewer had no substantive concerns. Both clearly read the paper with care. But I will need to give some time and energy to a few of the second reviewer's observations.
Please don't get pissed if you don't understand the Hebrew expression, I did two posts on the subject in August, 2007. I also presented the thesis of the paper at last year's Society for Biblical Literature, Pacific Coast Regional meeting. If you're interested in the journal to which I submitted it, you'll need to wait a while. I don't want to embarrass them or myself quite yet.

Congratulations! Maybe you need to come up with Duane's Law #2: The more you think you are retired, the busier you will be. Or, something along those lines.
