The July 2009 JNES Is Online
The July 2009 issue of the Journal of Near Eastern Studies is now online. Here is a list of the papers.
- Jack Cheng, "A Review of Early Dynastic III Music: Man’s Animal Call"
- Isaac Kalimi, "Placing the Chronicler in His Own Historical Context: A Closer Examination"
- Luc Renaut, "Recherches sur le henné antique"
Of the twenty book reviews, so far I found Lorenzo Verderame's review of Francesca Rochberg, The Heavenly Writing: Divination, Horoscopy, and Astronomy in Mesopotamian Culture (Cambridge and New York: Cambridge University Press, 2004), the most interesting. But then, its the only one I've looked at so far.
It's nice to have these things online. Now I wish they were actually open access.
