One Elephant Got Up
An old friend once said that he felt like he had two elephants on him and one of them got up. Well, I've had four elephants on me and it feels like one of them just got up. Don't get me wrong. I am quite happy to have had all four of these elephants on me. But that doesn't mean that I haven't felt their weight.
If you're wondering, I just sent my first draft study of an Akkadian prayer to Alan Lenzi for his Reading Akkadian Prayers project. It still needs some work here and there and Alan may want me to do some additional things (or throw out a few things I have done!). I'm also waiting for Santa to bring me Hayim ben Yosef Tawil’s An Akkadian Lexical Companion for Biblical Hebrew: Etymological-Semantic and Idiomatic Equivalents with Supplement on Biblical Aramaic. That's the book John Hobbins reviewed the other day. It might just have something of value that I can use. Even so, I feel like one elephant got up. After a couple of deep breaths, I'm on to lift the next one. After all, there is sill three of those elephants on me.
Oh, I almost forgot. I do have that wee beast of a Pacific Coast Regional Society of Biblical Literature meeting paper sitting on my lap until March.
By May, I'll probably be ready to take on a few more elephants.

Thanks, Duane, for letting elephants sit on you.
