New Ancient World Open Bibliographies Blog
Phoebe Acheson and Chuck Jones have launched a new blog. Here’s it’s raison d’être
This blog is for discussion and development of a project to collect and solicit annotated bibliographies about subjects relevant to studies of the ancient world (as NYU defines it – ‘from the Pillars of Hercules to the Pacific, from the beginnings of human habitation to the late antique / early Islamic period.’) The bibliographies will be collected at a dedicated wiki site, which will be open access.
I assume “from the Pillars of Hercules to the Pacific” means moving from west to east. Not much is there as yet but the project seems useful and hopeful. Be sure to subscribe to their RSS feed or even, better, participate directly.

Hmmmmmm... The Pillars of Hercules is a phrase often associated with Atlantis rhetoric and with many different meanings depending on its various interpretations throughout the ages. If Strait of Gibraltar is meant, they should just say that and spare themselves the grief of that loaded term. Better yet, just state "anywhere the sun shines."
