Finkelstein and Qeiyafa
Over at Roses and Razorwire, Owen Chestnut has written a two part response to Israel Finkelstein’s SBL paper on Qeiyafa. I call particular attention Owen’s comments on the identification of the site and the issue of the scale of the outer wall of the casemate. I’m not completely sure that Qeiyafa is ancient Sha’arayim but it sure seems that that is the best fit identification. I’m also not sure want to make of the relative scale of the outer wall of the casemate but I agree with Owen that something should be made of it.
Also, be sure to read Barnea Levi Selavan's comment on a possible Shephela polity.
