Confusing News On An Amenhotep III Statue

The Telegraph, The Washington Post and even Fox News are reporting that archaeologists have uncovered a massive quartzite stature of Amenhotep III at Luxor. The Telegraph headline is typical, “Statue of Amenhotep III, King Tut’s grandfather, found.” But exactly when was it found? What seems to be a a article on the same or a closely related subject with the same dateline in Ahram deals with the restoration of the colossi of Memnon. So does the photograph that accompanies a couple of the articles. The colossi of Memnon are two large statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III and these have been “uncovered” for a very long time indeed. The colossi of Memnon depect the Pharaoh sitting and while the Telegraph etc. articles say that the statue depicts the Pharaoh standing, The reported heights don’t quite match either. Now two (I think two but I can only find a report on one of them) other smaller statues of Amenhotep III were uncovered in 2010. I’m not sure if Amenhotep III is standing or sitting in this/these statue(s). I’ll try to check this out but not now. So, do we have new news, old news or very old news?
