Here is one reason not to mix belief and politics. Minnesota State Rep. Mike Beard has faith. Here is an example of his faith.
God is not capricious. He’s given us a creation that is dynamically stable,” Beard told MinnPost. “We are not going to run out of anything.
This is the kind of belief that is not only baseless but, if broadly accepted, will result in a natural apocalypse that will make the apocalypses of faith look like Sunday School lessons. Oh, I almost forgot; they are a Sunday School lessons. The likely coming reductions and redistributions in essential natural resources are not.
The problem is not with Mike Beard’s faith. It is with faith itself. If one can have a faith that is benign or even positive one can as easily have the kind of faith Mike Beard has. At a minimum, any non-evidence based option gives cover to the Mike Beards of the world.
