Eric Mitchell and Jason Zan report that their team has found the 13th boundary inscription at Gezer.
Here’s a picture of our daughter sitting on one such marker in 1971.
The newly discovered stone has three lines rather than the more common two. As usual, the first line reads Alkiou (“belonging to Alkios”) in Greek. If I understand Mitchell and Zan’s report correctly, and I may not, the more common second line, תחם גזר, (“boundary or region of Gezer”) is divided with תחם alone on the second line and ruminants of the word גזר on the third.
